“I wouldn’t necessarily call JMF a gym. It would be easy to slap a label on it—inclusive gym or boutique gym—but that still makes us sound like just another gym.

Yes, we have gym stuff. And yes, we do gym things. So we’re gym-adjacent. But I’m not sure that I’d call JMF a gym.

I think I’d identify JMF more as a training community. We value thoughtful communication, attentive coaching, and deep, meaningful relationships. Above all, our mission is to help members build a consistent routine that actually fits their lives without guilt, pressure, or burnout.

Sure, our SEO might be optimized for the word ‘gym,’ but JMF is much more than that.”

As a personal trainer & strength coach with over 15 years of experience, we opened in 2017 as a way to take a little bit of “gym flair” and combine it with a comfortable training space. If I’m not in the gym, you can probably find me eating sushi, watching Star Wars, traveling, reading, or hanging out with my family, friends, or dogs (mostly this one, honestly).

Ok, so coaches (plural) might be gratuitous—but that’s the point. We’re small on purpose, because coaching is meant to be personal. At JMF, we’re more than just another gym—we’re here to help real people get stronger, move better, and build lasting confidence. Whether you’re starting fresh, coming back after PT, or looking for a smarter way to train, we design every session around your body and goals. You’ll notice the difference quickly: better posture, more strength, and renewed energy, all inside a friendly space where you’re supported every step.

Lily

Lily is our Senior Vice President of Member Experience. She’s been on the team since the fall of 2018 and has experienced tremendous growth since coming onboard. Her favorite exercise is tug-of-war and she’ll be sure to pay a visit to everybody as they move through their workouts.

Marshall

Marshall is our VP of Fetching Operations and has been on the team since the summer of 2019. As Lily’s “little” brother, he enjoys fetching (read: collecting balls) and hanging out on his bed or by the air conditioning vents. Fun fact: Marshall also performs the role of Head of Security at the gym.

At Josh Mavilia Fitness, we use barbells, dumbbells, kettlebells, resistance bands, and bodyweight exercises – whatever gets the job done – to build strength and improve mobility. We also have sleds, rowers, and bikes for conditioning. The gym has been carefully curated over the years to support of mission of helping real people train safely, effectively, and with purpose – no matter their experience level.
